Fostering the Mother-Daughter relationship in social, cultural and philanthropic work

Since 1925, NCLLA has offered mothers and daughters experiences, training, and meaningful interaction with the Los Angeles community.

Themed grade level programs use philanthropy goals to build teen confidence and proficiency in navigating the world.

Our Program

Mothers and daughters in grades 7-12 learn to support our community using the language of philanthropy. Members have a voice in leadership in their class, working through programming ranging from practical (financial literacy, interview skills, college prep), to social (lasting friendships, modern etiquette). We plan, organize and fulfill philanthropy requirements, take shifts in our Thrift Shop, and propose a series of annual grants funded by our charitable income sources.

Once a daughter has fulfilled her 12th Grade obligations, she may wish to participate in an evening of tradition at the Coronet Debutante Ball. Afterward her mother may continue to be an active member as a Member at Large, and is encouraged to participate in adult groups, attend general functions, and take on a leadership role in adult grantgiving.

We expect our mothers to mentor our daughters to be good volunteers and effective philanthropists, and we expect our daughters to keep us relevant.

We welcome families entering 7th and 8th grades who share a commitment to philanthropy, personal growth, and leadership. Membership is initiated by internal sponsors or by inquiring below.

Joining NCLLA has given my daughter and me so many opportunities to spend meaningful time together. From serving our community to participating in experiences we may not have discovered on our own, each moment has brought us closer. What I value most is knowing that we are creating memories while giving back together.
